Palosanto Round Scratch Awl

This scratch awl was my first Palosanto purchase as a way of testing the waters surrounding the hype. At $35 for the bubinga option, it is a bargain bordering on a steal. The craftmanship of these handmade tools has no equal. On a planet hosting a more advanced civilization, perhaps, but here on Earth it is unmatched. Just be sure you name its future recipient when you include it as part of your estate in your final will and testament because they'll fight over it when you die.

This scratch awl is unlike any other. Their lathe work on the wood handles is top notch and is mated with perfection to the solid brass ferrules. You don't find this even in other top of the line leathercraft tools. The tip is machined perfectly symmetrical, but not a needle point. So, it marks the leather with a distinct and crisp line, but doesn't gouge.The size and shape of the handle makes for great ergonomics. I think I need two...
