DLS Standard Flip Flops (Made to Order)

I've been passionate about all types of footwear most of my life, and it was always a struggle to find a pair that fit well and could be worn all day, weren't overly sporty or casual, and were made with durable, high quality materials.  I set out an intense footwear making journey about eight years ago with the goal of making great footwear that I wasn't able to find anywhere else and to share it with everyone.

In early 2024, my team and I launched a premium flip flop that I was incredibly proud of.  From the 150+ pairs we produced in-house, there were many lessons and takeaways, mostly related to the production process as well as pricing.  I wanted to simplify and streamline things so that we could delivery the same high quality faster, and for a lower price point.  I believe we've done it with the new DLS Standard Flip Flop.  

Some of the things that make our flip flops awesome:

• Premium Italian vegetable tan straps are both attractive and durable.  The color will deepen and the leather will develop a rich patina over the years.  
• Lightweight EVA midsole, outsole, and arch support combine to create an excellent foundation for all-day comfort. 
• Designed to address common points of discomfort.  E.g., we've incorporated a soft nubuck hollow toe strap which spreads out under pressure to reduce the hot spots between your toes common with webbing, cable, or solid core leather toe straps.
• Footbeds for the Standard Flip Flops are made from premium thick Italian suede (the same exact leather used by a brand that rhymes with Smirkenshmock).  The footbed is perforated with a specific pattern that promotes grip and moisture management.  As this suede breaks in, it will become smooth in high contact areas, leading to an even more comfortable wear.  If you had a pair of our premium flip flops with vegetable tanned leather footbeds, you'll find that your foot doesn't slide nearly as much during the break-in stage.

LEAD TIMES:
All flip flops are made in house to order, and lead times may vary depending on our production queue.  At present, the current estimated lead time is 1-2 weeks.  

SIZING:
- Our flip flops are unisex and based on US men's sizing.  They fit true to size based on your Brannock measurement.  While they're technically D width, there's a little extra room on the sides. 
- We recommend sizing up if you have wider feet, and sizing down if you're a half size, or if you have narrow feet. 
- If you have flat feet and you're concerned about the arch and metatarsals support, or if you might need a special accommodation, please reach out within 24 hours of your order and we'll be glad to discuss options.  Some options/accommodations may require an additional charge

FIT/BREAK-IN:
- You should expect to have about 1/4-1/2" of space behind where your heel sits (this is different than what you'll find with most other flip flop brands), and 1/2-1" of space at the front beyond your toes.
- Everyone's feet are different, and our flip flops are designed to accommodate most of the average feet out there.  Some folks will experience blissful comfort right out of the box, and others may not.  If the straps feel a little snug, we highly recommend giving the flip flops four or five wears of increasing duration over the course of a few days in order to break in.  If the straps feel extremely snug, contact us ASAP and do not wear them.  We'll help determine whether it's best to exchange for a different size, or for us to try and modify your flip flops.

LEATHER:
A significant portion of these flip flops is crafted with full grain leather (some is "corrected grain" for fellow leather nerds ;-) ).  While we will absolutely take care to avoid grain defects, it is a natural material and may exhibit minor markings and/or variations in color.

CARE AND USE:
- Wear your flip flops and wear them a lot!  However, they are not designed for submerging in liquid, which may lead to damage and shrinking of the leather.  You should also avoid exposing the flip flops to extreme heat (e.g. sitting in an extremely hot vehicle, prolonged exposure to very hot surfaces), as this may cause the adhesive to fail and lead to delamination.
- We recommend cleaning your flip flops with saddle soap and nourishing the leather with leather conditioner, neatsfoot oil, or a leather balm such as Smith's at least once per year.   

CANCELLATIONS AND RETURNS/EXCHANGES:
- We understand that things come up and you may need to cancel your order.  Since each pair is made to order, we ask that you contact us within 24 hours of your order if you need to request cancellation.  After 24 hours, we reserve the right to deduct a restocking fee from your refund.
- We will accept returns of new, unworn flip flops that are returned to us at the customer's expense.  Since all flip flops are made to order, customers will have the option between a 25% restocking fee, or making an exchange for a different pair of flip flops (subject to the lead time).

WARRANTY:
- Our flip flops are warrantied against manufacturing defects for six (6) months from the order date.  Covered manufacturing defects include:
     - Delamination (not from prolonged exposure to extreme heat)
     - Straps that have pulled free from their slots (excluding torn or cut straps)
     - Failed stitching (excluding abraded or excessively worn stitching).
- If you encounter damage due to a manufacturing defect, please contact us to arrange a return and repair at no charge.  If for some reason we are unable to repair your damaged flip flops, we will replace them with new pair of the same or similar configuration.
